Day 14 and 15

Well not a whole lot has happened the last couple days other than it is COLD. My temperature gauge outside read -9. The kids didn't have school today and Will would have worked from home except that we have been having troubles with our Internet since last night so he had to go into the office. It was a miserable 63 degrees in here when I woke up this morning. Our furnace just couldn't keep up.

I had to take Drew to the doctor today. He really has had a time beating this cold. He has been complaining of his ears hurting all week. He is on day 7 of his drops so I decided it was time to go in. He has bilateral ear infection...again. So he is on an oral med now too.

The only money spent the last 2 days was for the co-pay and antibiotic for Drew today. We are really struggling tonight because Will and I are really wanting to get Chinese food. My mouth is watering just typing it :( I am realizing that we have a bad Chinese food addiction . Unfortunately I don't even have the ingredients in the house to make homemade Chinese. Will has also ran out of Diet Mt. Dew. It could be a brutal 2 weeks with him not having any. Thankfully we have a couple 12 packs downstairs of other diet pop, but it is not the same for him. Today I am really having urges that I haven't had the last 2 weeks. Maybe it is because it is cold, dreary and all we want to do is be lazy. That is when the temptations are the worst.

You may not realize it but you may have become addicted to foods that are damaging to your body.

Just as a drug addict suffers withdrawal symptoms when the drug is withdrawn, people experience discomfort when they lose access to a particular food. It is also a known fact that the food industry purposely adds substances to foods to make you addicted to them.

Therefore you may experience withdrawal symptoms when many foods you normally consume are removed.

As soon as you stop eating these foods changes begin to occur in all of the body's systems. Some symptoms may occur within a few hours of not eating a regular food, while other symptoms may occur within days.

Withdrawal symptoms can even make you feel as if you are starving, when you actually aren't. You will find your cravings will increase the longer you prolong eliminating certain foods, i.e. sugars, high carb foods, alcohol, pop, grains, etc. If you indulge by eating them they appear to make you feel better for a time, but that won't last.

In order to overcome food addictions do the following:

Do not have any addictive foods in your home that can entice you.

Increase your intake of healthy foods, particularly saturated fats such as meats, eggs, extra virgin olive oil, etc. which satiate your appetite, helping you to curb addictions.

Every time you think about an addictive food:
1) drink some lemon and ocean sea salt, or eat some ocean sea salt; 2) take 500 mgs of vitamin C, which helps curb cravings,
or 3) take a teaspoon of a good fat or oil, i.e. organic butter, lard, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, etc.

Your body will thank you by not putting junk food in it.

Stuart Mackenzie: "Well, it's a well known fact, Sonny Jim, that there's a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentavirate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows."

Tony Giardino: "So who's in this Pentavirate?"

Stuart Mackenzie: "The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, *and* Colonel Sanders before he went tits up. Oh, I hated the Colonel with is wee *beady* eyes, and that smug look on his face. "Oh, you're gonna buy my chicken! Ohhhhh!"

Charlie Mackenzie: "Dad, how can you hate "The Colonel"?"

Stuart Mackenzie: "Because he puts an addictive chemical in his chicken that makes ya crave it fortnightly, smartass!"
