Easter 2015

Decorating eggs the day before!

Easter morning was a bit chilly but that didn't stop the kids from getting up early to find the backyard full of Easter eggs!

Pictures mom, really?  This picture is pretty funny.  They were actually really excited, however this picture certainly doesn't show that.
Ready.  Set.  Go.

The kids weren't the only ones who were excited about the eggs.  The raccoon's found the eggs as well.  They clawed them open and then opened up the candy inside them.  They are such clever animals.  I was missing quite a few hard boiled eggs as well.

Besides candy for breakfast I also made bunny pancakes.
We spent the afternoon at my moms house with my brother and sisters family.  The kids got some good cousin time in.

Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. It was nice to have Will home for a couple of extra days. On Friday he went on a field trip with Tony's school. The band had a clinic up at Iowa State and then got to go to Perfect Games for lunch and play time. Will was a chaperone.

Saturday morning we colored our Easter eggs. We went through 3 dozen pretty quickly.Sunday morning the kids woke us up nice and early to tell us the Easter Bunny had placed eggs outside. Everyone quickly got their coats and shoes on to head out (well Jake had a hard time getting up and moving and Emily was completely confused on what was going on).

Once everyone was outside it was a mad dash to collect eggs and find their baskets. Once all the eggs were collected we went back inside and I made French toast and scrambled eggs while the kids went through all their goodies. Emily was ready to go back to bed after all the excitement and sugar wore off. She went down for a nap and Will and I went and did some work outside. Will got the garden all tilled up. Now I am ready to put a few things into the ground. It's good to have that little project marked off the list. Later that afternoon my in-laws came down and we all headed over to my mother's for a wonderful Easter dinner. Here was my contribution. Thanks Pinterest for the cute idea!

Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. Saturday we woke up early and went to a pancake breakfast at the fire station with my Dad, step mom and brother and grandparents. After filling our bellies we headed home to get to work on the chicken house. It was a great day for building.

During all the construction the kids and I along with grandma and my friend Stefany and her son came inside to color some Easter eggs.It was a long day and the guys did a great job on the chicken house. Easter morning we woke up to a backyard full of eggs. The boys really wanted to run outside but unfortunately Will was on call and had been on a page since 6:30am. Finally about 9:15am the kids could head out to collect their eggs and baskets. The rest of the morning was spent indulging in candy. Will and Joel got a little more work done on the chicken house before we all headed over to my mothers for dinner. It was nice spending time with my brother and sisters families. The kids had a great time playing outside.

Hope you had a great Easter weekend too.

Easter Egg Craft

The boys and I made these cute tissue paper Easter eggs last week. You can go here to see the link. Here is what you will need.tissue paper
construction paper
scissors
glue
contact paper

First I cut all the tissue paper into squares. Then I made 3 egg shapes out of construction paper and cut out the centers, this will be the frame. I cut off a section of contact paper for each of the kids and pealed back 1/2 of it. The boys filled the sticky side with the tissue paper. I then folded it over so that it stuck to itself. Glue on the egg frames, allow to dry and cut out! I glued all three eggs together and hung on the window!

Is it Monday Already?

I can't believe it is Monday already. We had such a busy weekend, I feel like we need just one more day so we can rest! I hope everyone had a great Easter. I know we did.

Friday we had our friends over for dinner. It was great to spend some time with them and of course their little boy who is now almost 8 months old.

Saturday we started off the day nice and early. Tony had opening ceremonies for baseball at 9am. Then pictures followed and then he had 2 games, one at 10am and then one at noon. There was 10 minutes in between games for him to eat lunch. It was crazy. So we spent about 6 hours at the ball park Saturday afternoon. We came home and Drew took a quick nap while Tony, Brodie and I made it just in time to see the Pony Express go by. Bad mommy didn't have her camera but I know my SIL did so maybe she will get some good pics to share. When Drew woke up we spent the rest of the afternoon decorating Easter eggs.We spent the evening outside and Wills sister and parents came over for dinner. They brought the kids some kites, so that was a great activity. We played cards and had a great time until Brodie woke up suddenly with a horrible croupy cough at about 10:30pm. He was so bad he was unable to catch his breath. We took him into the steamy shower and then outside twice and he did show some improvement but I was still worried that he seemed to be struggling so much to breath. I called the oncall nurse who directed us to the ER. There he got a dose of steroids and is now doing so much better. We didn't get home till about 12:45am. Thankfully Wills family was there to stay with the other kids.
So, with little sleep (about 3 1/2 hrs) we woke up Sunday morning to excited boys. "The Easter Bunny came!!!" rang loudly throughout the house. The kids made a mad dash outside to pick up eggs, candy and find their baskets. Unfortunately I never did get a good picture of Drew bug with his basket. He got a book and squirt gun too just like his big brothers.
I thought this picture was funny of Brodie sorting all his treasurers into piles. The rest of Sunday was spent quietly. Both the little boys were pretty miserable with coughs and runny noses. I was just plain tired so I took a nap. Daddy played trains with the 3 younger kids and watched a movie with Jake. Sunday evening we spent at my moms with my brother and sisters family eating a wonderful Prime Rib dinner. We headed out early to get the younger kids to bed. It was a pretty eventful weekend. Hopefully our week will be quieter, but I am sure that is wishful thinking!
