Happy Birthday Drew

November 16th Drew Henry turned 7 years old!
He has a love for super heros so he was happy to receive some new additions to his Imaginex collection.

He found a puppy dog tin at the library so he had me make that for his cake.

Hard to believe my baby boy is 7!  He is the most sensitive, lovable boy.  I am so proud of him and I am not ashamed to say that he is definitely a mommas boy!

Happy Birthday Drew Bug!  We love you so much!

Happy Birthday Emily!

Saturday our baby girl turned 3!  Our family celebrated that morning by having coffee cake and watching Em open her presents.  She got some new nail polish, a strawberry shortcake doll, bubble bath and a Melissa and Doug peg set.  She was a very happy girl.

Sunday we had her family birthday party.  She had 3 sets of grandparents, Will's cousin, aunt and her boyfriend, and one of her uncles come help us wish her a happy birthday!  It was a full house.  I always love having family get togethers.  We are so lucky to have such an awesome family!

!

Em opened presents and then we had cake and ice cream.  Here is her cake I made her this year.  She loves Curious George.  She even helped me decorate the cupcakes all the while telling me "you did a great job mom", "this is soooo awesome", "I lub (love) it!"  She knows how to make me feel good!

I never imagined having a baby girl in our lives.  Now I can't imagine our lives without her.  Happy Birthday Princess!

Remember that cake I said I made for Will's cousins wedding shower? Here is a picture of it. I found the idea on Pinterst and tweaked it a bit. I think it turned out ok. Not very smooth which I wanted but not sure how to achieve that. The future bride and groom were happy so that is all that matters.

I have a little anxiety right now. This morning I had my pre-op physical. I am suppose to have foot surgery next week which I am really dreading. 6 weeks in a post op boot is just going to plain suck.

We see the liver specialists tomorrow for Will. I have a whole list of questions ready to ask. I will be glad once that apt is over and we hopefully have a path to follow.

The kids have been sick. Surprise. Drew has a sinus and ear infection. Emily's eyes are goopy and nasty and her nose is constantly draining. Jake is catching it now and has a really bad cough and sinus pressure, Brodie is complaining of a sore throat. Sigh...

On a happier note I got my peas in the garden last week. I planted regular pod peas and also some sugar snap peas. This weekend I am going to try and get my spinach, carrots and lettuce planted. Not sure how the garden will hold up while I am up with my foot. Guess we will just have to see how all that plays out.

Drew's Birthday Cake

Drew sat with me at the computer a couple weeks before his birthday and we googled images of super hero cakes. He found one he really liked so I had an idea to go off of. The weekend of his birthday party I spent a couple hours one evening coloring and making the fondant decorations for his cake.
Batman, Spiderman and Captain America were the heros that he wanted on his cake.

The morning of his party I finished up the decorating. Here is how the cake turned out. He was so excited when he saw it. He said "ahhh mom, that is AWESOME!" He must have thanked me half a dozen times. This was definitely one of my favorite cakes I have made.

Happy Birthday Tony

Well it's official we have 2 teenagers in the house. Tony celebrated his 13th birthday on the 22nd. I can't believe he is a teenager already. Time goes so fast.

Here he is showing off his Sonic the Hedgehog cake.
He was very excited to receive a Lego set, MP3 player and a new game for his Nintendo DS.

Drew almost ruined things by blowing out the candles. Thankfully he stopped in time for Tony to make a wish and blow out the candles himself!Happy Birthday Tony, life wouldn't be the same without you. We love you so much!

Happy Birthday Jake

Wow 15. Jake celebrated his 15th birthday yesterday. It was a gorgeous day. Unseasonable weather with temps near 70 degrees!

We had a good afternoon. Jake opened his gifts and was very happy to receive a giftcard to Best Buy, an attachment for his game controller and a ticket to Lazer Fest. A concert he really wants to go to this Spring (his Dad will be accompanying him). Trying to plan his cake was hard! So I decided on an army theme. He thought it looked really good.Hard to believe he is 15. Time goes so fast. Happy Birthday Jake, we love you more than you could ever know.

Batman Cake

Here is the cake I made for Drew's birthday. Looks good right? (Except for the fact that Blogger is rotating my pictures). I was going to make him a dog cake because that is what he originally requested. When we went to the library to pick up the cake tin, he found this Batman cake tin and really wanted to have that instead. So, I obliged.

I worked on the cake for almost 2 hours and then set it in the downstairs fridge overnight. When I went to get the cake the next morning I noticed standing water in the corner of the tin. Unfortunately every once in a while our freezer leaks water into our fridge. It hasn't done this for a while but that night it decided to leak...right onto Drew's cake.

So unfortunately for his birthday party we were unable to eat the cake I made for him. Thankfully I had some brownies that I was able to bake before guests arrived. Drew got to see the cake and blow out the candles. He was happy and that is all that matters.

Happy Birthday Tony

Monday we celebrated Tony's 12th birthday. He woke up telling me he felt so good, he felt 10 years younger! We had cinnamon rolls before he headed off to school.

After school he opened his presents. This year we got him a soccer ball and goalie net. He also got Bionicles and Halo action figures from his brothers. For his cake, I had to go with the Lego theme. He loves Legos more than anything and will spend hours building. He told me it was the best cake I ever made him (he tells me this every year :) ) He is so sweet. Tony, you are such a great kid. Your so thoughtful, caring and full of life. I hope you know how much you are loved by everyone. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Jake!

Well it is official, Jake is 14 now. Crazy how time goes so fast. We celebrated his birthday in the evening this year, breaking the morning tradition. Here was the cake I made him. We all know the boy loves his video games. He was very excited about his gift from me and Will. A ticket to the Black Eyed Peas concert. We will be attending it with him in March. The T-shirt he is holding is letting him know we will also be buying him a real T-shirt as a souvenir at the concert! This will be his first concert, it should be quite the experience. Here is Brodie's reaction to the gift.Jake is such a bright spot in our lives. He truly is a great kid and we are lucky to be his parents. He is respectful, responsible and a genuine good person and I am so proud of him. I love you bud, Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Tony!

Today marks the 11th birthday of Tony! We had our usual birthday breakfast. Tony wanted donuts for breakfast. So, I picked up some donut holes and blueberry bagels. He was really excited about his gifts. The best gift, a Red Ryder BB gun. Jake got one for his 10th birthday and Tony has wanted one ever since. He was very happy! He was also excited to get the new Diary of a Wimpy kid book, Last Straw.
We are celebrating both of the kids birthday today at a bowling alley. Wills parents and sister and my dads side of the family will be there. It should be lots of fun.

And instead of making a cake for Tone this year he got cupcakes. Pokeballs. He thought they were pretty cool!

Back on Track

Well I am feeling so much better today. I got some cleaning done this morning which felt good, although as of tonight you would have never known the work I did.

The little boys and I have been working on the letter "L" this week. We made some lion crafts and have been talking about lizards and ladybugs. I have almost finished the ladybug lapbook I am working on. Hopefully tomorrow they will be able to enjoy that. I will post pictures of it when it is finished. We did make it to the library tonight and got some great ladybug books to read along with about 20 other books the boys thought we needed.

Tonight I got Jake's cake done for his party tomorrow. My inspiration for him this year was his MP3 player he got for Christmas. He doesn't go anywhere without it. So, that is what I made for his cake. I always try and decorate the cakes according to their current likes. I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I hope he likes it.

Happy Birthday Drew Bug!!!

My baby is 2 years old today. We had a nice birthday party for him last night with family and did our usual birthday breakfast for him this morning. Pancakes with sprinkles and bacon. Here is a picture of his cake. I think he liked it! It is hard to imagine he is this big. Time goes so fast.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I wish tomorrow wasn't Monday already. We have a busy week ahead.
