Day 30

We did it! We made it through our 30 days of nothing! It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am really proud of all of us. There was a few days where we struggled to stay focused but we never cheated. We achieved our goal of of spending $30 for the entire month on groceries. We spent only $5 on entertainment purposes for parking one day. We spent no money on clothes, books, movies or fast food! We only paid for our monthly bills. We kept our energy use down and we conserved our water.

It is going to be difficult to judge just how much money we saved on utilities but I know we have made a difference. We have learned new ideas and strategy's that will stick with us and become part of our everyday life.

As far as spending-it was actually really nice to be successful at not spending any money this month because now I know we can do it! It is going to be a challenge for me each month now to see what we can cut back on, what we can do with out and what we can save.

My goal is to stay living this frugal lifestyle. Maybe not to the extreme as this past month, but I am definitely going to be more aware of what is spent. I will constantly be looking for new ways to save. To help me with that I am actually going to be starting another blog. While I will still be updating this blog frequently, this blog will mostly revolve around our family life and what is going on with us. My new blog will be dedicated to frugal living. My goal is to post tips, coupons, bargains and other ideas to help spend less and save more. If this sounds like something you might be interested in then please join me at Learning The Frugal Life.

WOW What a wonderful achievement!!!
We are so proud of you, & your whole family for meeting your goal. The older boys I am sure will remember this well. And the younger ones will be able to become accustomed without realizing it. Wish you all the success in the world to doing what you are wanting to. It has always been said that you don't have to have a lot of money to be happy. To a wonderful family from your Grandparents*****

Congratulations on your success and good luck with the new blog. I can't imagine keeping up on two blogs but if that makes it easier for you to keep track than you go girl! I'll try to share more deals as I find them too.

Let us add our accolades too, for doing such a wonderful job of sticking to the challenge. I think the best part is that it has made you all aware of the things you can do, even in small ways. I hope the bills indicate a real savings to affirm all you've done this month. We are very proud of all of you!
Love you lots, Anita and Dad
