My day started at 4:40am. Straight to the grind. Shower, dressed, wake up kids, breakfast, kids dressed, cat fed all the last minute details that comes with leaving the house for a week. We had packed most everything the night before so we were pretty prepared for the morning. We met Mom, Joel and Jen at the gas station in Ames at 6:15am and we were off. We stopped in Clear Lake and ate breakfast at the Denny's there. It took us about 10 hours total time to get to the cabin. Of course we had to stop numerous times the most important stop being at Cabelas in Owatona. The kids found some toy guns they couldn't live with out and rubber fishing worms.
We arrived at the cabin about 4:15pm. Everyone was excited to be there and to be OUT OF THE VAN! We were packed pretty tight. The weather was beautiful and we just walked around and showed Wills family the cabin and lake. I of course being the worker bee that I am started to unpack everything so that we could be settled and not have to worry about doing it later. Jake and Tony got their trunks and went in for a dip in the lake. Joel and Will and the little boys got the boat put in the water and all the fishing gear ready.
Once all that was done Mom, Jen and I headed into Fergus Falls to get our groceries. We left about 7 and got home about 9:30pm. Not too bad considering the 3 page grocery list I had made. We unpacked the food and finished the night off with a game of Pinochle. We were ready for the fun to begin...
