Earth Day is April 22. I have been thinking alot about this day because I think it is important for my kids to be aware of our earth and take steps to help take care of it. I was thinking that we could do something special as a family on this day. And since it is going to be family night (Wednesday) it will work out perfect! My thought right now is to go to the park next door to us and pick up trash as one activity we can do together.
I also found some great websites of things to do with your children. From crafts, to songs, to coloring pages there is lots of things to do. Here are a couple of sites you can check out if your looking for things to do.

What about you? Do you have any plans for Earth Day? I would love to hear about them.

Seriously, do you have ESP or something or did you talk to Mark about that last night?? Just yesterday we talked about him taking some time off on Earth day to go over with us and clean up the park, the kids have actually been complaining about how much trash we see everywhere! So that's our plan too sometime that day and probably a craft or something to go along with it.

Thanks Julie. Maria, no I didn't talk to Mark. That is funny. Maybe we will see you over there.
Here's how old I am -- I remember the first Earth Day! I was in college and we went around to the area high schools giving presentations about good earth stewardship. Of course a lot of the doom and gloom predictions at the time never came to fruition; turns out the Earth is a lot more resilient than we thought. :-) I do think most of the principles are good though and I think "Leave it better than you found it" is a good motto to apply.
Love, Mom B.
